Its thought Plums may have been one of the first fruits domesticated by humans. They are generally a small to medium deciduous TREE with glossy green LEAVES and white FLOWERS in spring. They are one of the best stone fruits to grow in a home garden as prolific crops of very good quality fruit can be produced with very little work. The FRUIT is firm and juicy with a hard stone in the centre and can range from sweet to tart.  Skin is smooth, with a natural waxy surface and are generally various shades of red although there are green and yellow types as well. Some are self-fertile or partially self-fertile but most are planted with a pollinator to ensure good fruit production. At last a Lilly Pilly that is highly psyllid resistant!  A superior cultivar of Syzygium Australe, more commonly known as a Lilly Pilly. This unique variety is new to the NZ market and is solely available through Black Bridge Nurseries and Boulevard and Boutique. Selected propagation has improved this variety of Lilly Pilly making it resistant to the very problematic psyllid insect and the damage it causes. Its also faster growing, has a stronger, straighter central leader and an improved root system. We’ve also found it to be good in shady areas as well. Excellent for screening, hedging and shaping. See also "Eugenia ventinatii" to see how Syzygium resilience could be used as a hedge
